Our goal is to develop living
communities that truly respond to
how people need to live, while
maintaining harmony with the
physical environment, in the context
of our Timeless Southern Heritage.
We believe that planned communities
can be developed responsibly,
creating better long term benefits
for everyone, and adding
transcendent value.
The needs of how people live are
more intrinsic to the human
condition than simple
building/design trends, which change
frequently. These functional living
needs include the manner in which
the development corresponds to its
natural surroundings; the way in
which each home integrates with the
general community; the feeling that
residents and visitors experience
when there.
Concern for interaction with the
natural surroundings is important
because it determines whether or not
the end product is balanced. If the
product is in harmony with its
surroundings, there will be a sense
of order and comfort, and the place
will feel positive. Otherwise, the
neighborhood will feel contrived and
temporary, with an anxious feel.
Furthermore, balance suggests
permanence, which in turn fulfills a
basic need for most in deciding
where to live and plant families.
Residential development should
complement the natural surroundings
rather than overpowering or opposing
it.
The integration of each home with
the rest of the community is also
crucial because it contributes to
the overall harmony of the project.
Each home should integrate with the
general community plan in a cohesive
and attractive manner. The homes
should be designed with the same
criteria of balance and with
consistent design themes that
individually and collectively
represent the same architectural
concepts. This general consistency
creates the distinctive flavor of
the community, and encourages
interactivity between people and
structures. That interactivity is
further supported by functional
designs, like sidewalks, front
porches, and nature trails – good
architecture is critical. |
